Monna Barrick
Monna Barrick was born in Chandler, Oklahoma, spent many years in California and now resides in Mesa, Arizona. Monna Barrick has been making her living as an artist and a teacher since 1982. Her outstanding artwork hangs in homes all over the U.S. and abroad. Monna says, "Life is great when your job is doing something you love! When working on my paintings, I keep in mind that I must do with my subjects something no photographer could do. I feel if I painted like a photographer, why paint. Why not just take a photograph. A painting has to create the feeling that exists but cannot be photographed. I love the desert and have taught myself to do landscapes with the critique help from artist friends."
Her studies have been with well known artists: Leon Franks, John Howard Sanden, Battina Stinke and Leslie B. Demille. She has also studied the Norman Rockwell's Famous Art Course. A wonderful influence in her life was an artist, her husband, Jim Barrick. (now deceased) "I learned many valuable lessons from him."
